A career at the edge of electronics and life sciences, developing telecommunication technologies for a better life.

P. M. Mendes graduated in 1995 and obtained his MSc in Electrical Engineering in 1999, both from the University of Coimbra. He received his PhD (2005) and Habilitation (2023) in Industrial Electronics from the University of Minho, where he is today Full Professor at the Department of Industrial Electronics.

His work spans micro/nanoelectronics, RF microelectronics and RFCMOS, wireless sensor networks, biomedical devices and wearables, antenna miniaturization, neural interfaces, electromagnetics, wireless power, millimeter and terahertz waves, and 2D electronics.

He is co-author of 6 patents, 13 book chapters, 57 journal papers and more than 170 conference papers, and has supervised more than 15 PhD and 40 MSc students. He is a Member of the European Microwave Association, the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society and the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society.
